My friend is considering giving me his Stage 2 drag motor for a few of my extra parts, but since he has the Stage 2 RR in, he's sticking with the Heat Sink, so, how good will the motor run without the heat sink? Will it overheat rather quickly and/or not wrok at all?

Well, It will run as long as you have the motor mount..but i really recommend you get a heat sink. The stage 2 motor upgrade is only like 15 so i recommend you buy that since you get 4 motors + a heat sink. Or, you should buy a motor like the NML motor. Good Luck - Dean

the stage 2 upgrade consists of 4 motors that are exactly alike, the only thing different about the 4 is the gear ratio. just an FYI.

The heatsink is not needed. I've seen SO3s, which run much hotter, stay cool enough on 8.4 volts not to fry without a heatsink.

or you can get the motor holder, put aluminum foil on the motor, slid on the mount(so the alum is inbetween the motor and the mount) and it should work! unless your using it on the blue s2 motor...not sure on that one, but i use it on my yellow s2...
