the next 'vette (body #4)

well i got my 4th corvette body from oramac earlier this week and just got home today to tear into it, literally. it is going to be a beater body, but of course i cant have anything thats ugly, so i'll be painting it to look like a decent car, and i already did a targa top conversion to it for a little added bonus since i cant just cut into my nice bodies.

i've cleaned up the edges a little since the pics with some sandpaper and it looks pretty decent now

on to picking how i want the body to look
choice #1: all stock with BK hood (painted headlight covers not clear)

right now it looks ok, but since ur other bodies are great, this one should be the same.

sounds like you have a pretty good plan, but i doubt when your done it will end up a beater body and become another shelve queen.

you may be right :uhoh: if i had a complete stock bk i'd make this one match the maroon one and have a targa and coupe version, but the plan for this one is still full bk and blue paint (i always have a stock body i could use for a beater if i have to)

thanks for the comments everyone, i should have pics of it on a chassis soon enough, i'm going to go mod the body to fit now

yeah i just upgraded the motor in this beast to the one that i had in my avalanche x-truck (BB can, s2 arm, and iso mags) and it'll move pretty good, but not really a whole lot better than a normal s2 which i had in it before

i got it painted today, decided it was staying a beater body and scrapped all plans for body work and went straight to paint, it turned out fairly nice, but still the worst paint job of all my corvette bodies

thanks guys, i'm supposed to be getting an "uber" chassis for one of them, its got a chili motor, li-po and a 2x3 fet stack, but its closing on 6 months now, and i havnt gotten it, but i have stayed in contact with the guy, i've already paid for it, he just has to ship it out

If you could somehow locate some Corvette stickers scale to the Xmod bodies and stuck them where they need to be, that would be one of the best looking Corvettes I have ever seen.

duplicolor automotive paints. not one of my better paint jobs tho, just a quickie to get a uniform color layed down

I have used Duplicolor Metalcast and I hate it.

thats probably because it's made to be paint straight onto bare metal, xmods are plastic man. try some regular duplicolor paint

thanks man yeah the silver one grew on me after i used the rubbing compound on it. that stuff is pretty amazing, but the red is of course my favorite.
