this is the first crawler i threw together. i wasn't very interested in a gearbox or a servo mod so i threw in a stock radline 130 motor. they're great because you get mucho torque and decent speed as well. my main mods are shielded bearings, SS body lift, aoshima super swampers, reversed and painted slammed wheels, offroad kit, green trim, bumpsteer mod and a relocated battery pack. here's a few pics

Nice looking hummer. Is the radline motor fet safe?

the H2 did live to see another day, it convinced the snake that it actually wasn't a hummer, but a very elaborate empty shoebox, so the snake saw no value in it and released it.

jabari: the radline motor is FET safe, i'm running stock fets right now and it hasn't given me any problems. the torque on those things is amazing.

lookin good homie, i like it alot. i woulda used the other bk for it though, to give it a more offroad look, but thats just my opinion. looks great!

It does look good !!!

c1v1c,he might not want to ruin his motor case,i dont want to either..

Looks nice. I like the rims. THey look preety good. I have a radline and thhey run at 22,000 rmps stock. I put an xmod motor in it and it runs fine. The radline motor won't do anything.

with the radline stock 130 in it, it runs 23 kmh =P it also has enough torque to crawl pretty good. besides that, i didnt want a huge gear box sticking out of my back end

Nice crawler!

I lol'ed at the naked part...

I should try the Radline motor sometime, good idea!

What exactly is this bumpsteer mod? I need to do it, and haven't found anything good with a search other than a picture, and I didn't notice much..

Looks nice. How much did that motor run you and where did you get it? I want something with good torque.. but I don't want to hack up the rear gear case.

this is the bumpsteer mod (bondo's tutorial) http://xmodsforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=2077

the motor came from target and they're like $20 for a 3 pack, money well spent =)

very nice hummer SS, it reminds me a lot of mine :D same motor, same body lift same basic setup, but that green looks pretty tight on it, i think you should do the whole thing in flat green, that would be tight.

i recently found a 6 tooth pinion gearfor mine tho :firedevi: i'll be putting it on next weekend when i go to my house, and i might try to do a makeshift gearbox (if i can set it up how i want to, im still not sure if it will work yet)

El video por favor?

Looks like a good trail rig. The Radline motors are 130 right? May need to stick it's guts into the S10's motor... ;)

Yea texan the radlline motor is a 130 size. I have the elite series radline buggy and when you go backwards then forwards really fast it pops a whellie and holds it for 4 feet. I put an xmod motor in the radline and it holds the wheelie longer and goes faster but it can't jump and crawl over things as much.
Over all the radline motor has a lot of torque.

i was going to make a video today but my AAA batts are all weak or dead....maybe next weekend. i played with the thing on my saturns back glass which is pretty steep and i can roll **** near to the bottom then hit the throttle and spin out for a lil bit then climb right back up

edit: also added some functional fog lights

nice a 6 cell. I have that on my crawler. I want to flip the battery case but i have a 6cell in the way and then a steering mod.

It is getting better man. Keep it up.

p.s. relocating the battery pack to the top isnt the greatest idea...even with 4wd...it'll do a wheely or flip =/ i played around with it in the back yard on some tough terrain, it didnt really crawl, it kinda hopped lol.

fieldfairy2
02-10-2008, 06:52 PM
Ok then that just gave me the idea not to relocate my battery case. Thanks.

Relocating the case makes the center of gravity higher making it flip over easier. You probably know that. Well you live and you learn.

I noticed you bought the radline motor pack is it really worth it. I have a radline myself and i might use that motor in my tamiya gearbox.

i like the radline 130's they're comparable to that helimax motor that xmodsnut is always talking about

02-10-2008, 07:17 PM
Ok, thanks. I should really try to put one in the gearbox. Do you know which is the motor with the most torque? Anyways the truck still looks nice. ANy other plans?

i reloacted my 4 cell holder back to the bottom but i have a loose connection somewhere...the bastard is still popping wheelies...i wanna slap it on the speed checker, i think it'll hit between 25-30 khm =/

Yea texan i am talking about the tamiya gearbox.

I like the lights on the hummer it looks pretty cool. To prevent the whellies you can put the battery case up front a bit and put some pine car derby wieghts up it the front.

LOL 400:1 gear ratio! You'd be breaking the plastic parts before you could use all that torque. :)

I think relocating 4 cells back to the bottom of the car will prevent most wheelies. The trouble with adding weight to the front is that you can't crawl back downhill -- you'll roll downhill.

Wow thats pretty sick.
Im pretty much looken too do the same thing with a titan cause I miss mine, Lift, the tires, AWD, now the Bumpsteer mod, never seen that, and other stuff,
But dang, that thing is nice

Hah, You guys are funny, 400:1 gear ratio, Like imagine if taht would all fit in a xmod, Then you walk out side too go somewhere, and you see a xmod pulling a tractor trailer =O

****, that's mean :eyecraz: im wondering how big the gear box i ordered is going to be, i may have to take the h2 off the chassis and use another body, im probably gonna gear it 25:1 and see how that works out

Hm...
The H2 does have a lot of headroom, it should fit fine, unless it's mega-huge...

If all fails, you can have an excuse to mount a model body..:bigwink: :)

Well, if you go thru with 400:1, hopefully it won't be so long, as you would have to mount it, it may be too long, then touching wheels etc....

For clearance, if you look, under the endbell of the motor, and the 4-way arm on the shaft, there are those metal edges/tabs, trim those off, maybe it'll give it more clearance....
Since it runs of 3v, and the stock 4cell tray is 4.8, it might be a bit faster, so if you a 400:1, it might be a bit better...you don't want ultra-slow...
But at 25:1, I would hookup 2 AA batteries to the motor, coming off a double AA holder, because the normal voltage is 3v...4.8v might boost it a bit too much, and the torque might not be as noticeable...:uhoh:

if i can run it off of dual double a's i'll be in good shape because i won't have all that weight on the top anymore
