So, remember all of my talk of going to a Candy Apple Red? It's in the works.

I would show you before, but well.. it was a Bumblebee we all know what those look like.

It started out in primer, obviously. And, it currently has a Sterling Silver Metallic base coat sitting on it, and it's very purdy.. I want to leave it this color to be honest.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v221/ling427ttvette/IMG_0546.jpg

I will lay down maybe one or two more coats on here to get some more metallic on there since this was just a very light dusting of this color, and it was that thick.. one thing I am finding that I don't like is these little cans spray ALOT of paint in one spray.. have to be almost a foot away to make sure it's not too thick.

I think I will be leaving the slammed wheels on it, I think they fit the wheel wells nicely and compliment the stance.

I will be re-painting in all of the details by hand once I get the final coat of color down. That is going to be fun.

I need to go out and get some very fine sandpaper so I can get rid of the orange peel.. but god **** I am so glad I did this.

Also, the stripes aren't coming back. I wanted to at first, but I've changed my mind.

Yeah the stripes are a pain in the butt thats for sure! i used brake clean to get mine off.

Start with about 1000 gritt for the wet sanding and make sure it says its for wet or dry sanding before you start. Keep a steady steam of water and sand lightly.

Wow that is tasty! Can't wait to see it finished - looks like we could be in need of a custom paint competition in the not to distant future.

Eh, probably just RS upgrades.

I've got some lights on the way and a suspension and steering upgrade with it, should be here today.

As for the motor, just a Stage 2 probably. I highly doubt it will get driven much since I prefer driving my truck more. My cars are my shelf queens, the trucks are actually driveable on most surfaces. The cars are so low that you have to worry about a small rock ripping the underneath of your car apart.

I need to order some GPM though. Will be getting front and rear knuckles, dogbones, might do GPM shocks. And, probably sealed metal bearings as well.

The Titan is where most of my money is going. I spent $40 on an off road upgrade, ONLY one I could find with a buy it now though. :(

Edit: Thanks for all of the compliments everyone! I'll get some outside pictures once I get off of work today, should have some sunlight. The car is looking so darn good though I just can't wait to get it back together.. but I have to be patient. I probably won't do any work to it for a couple days, let the paint that's on it get a good cure and go from there. I can work on the bumpers for the time being. I need to find a way to tape off the headlights in the front bumper though..

Hehe. Not a big fan of the 09 Camaro, but Im having fun modding it.

Nice, I'm not much a fan of the original color, but that looks yummy! Here's mine, I had slammed wheels in it, but I needed them for my F150 so they aren't in the Bumblebee anymore.
Here's what all my money goes into now.

But I still have fun with this
Notice the temporary tattoo on the roof, it is a b*tch to get off

Sorry if I'm jacking your thread. I like yours a ton better! I'm thinking maybe a metallic blue for mine.

Hobby Lobby.

It was a transparent candy apple red, the number is 1605, its a Testors paint.

Get it done. I can't stand seeing it in painters tape yet...

The paint is flawless :) Great job...

I couldn't resist throwing it on the chassis and lightly setting a few pieces in place.. didn't want to put them in place fully since the paint is still curing:

Only thing left to paint is the front bumper and the small details.

Edit: Crap, I got a small finger print on it.. good thing I still need to wet-sand.

Now this makes me angry. I spend $50 on an airbrush and yet spray canners do better jobs than me! WTH! Beautiful car btw, candy really suits it...tasted it yet?

Another update, a bad thing happened. :(

I peeled the tape off of the windows, and it took little pieces of the body paint with it.. so now I need to find a way to touch up around the windows.

Anyways, onto the pics without tape:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v221/ling427ttvette/IMG_0550.jpg

Front bumper is still getting painted, hood needs more work, color isn't turning out right.. and now I need to touch up spots, and hand paint the details.

Getting closer though!

It's all in the prep work and technique. ;)

How long did you let the paint set? I usually wait a day or two before taking off any masking. But, **** she is smoooooth. 8) Glad to see the slammed wheels worked out for you too. And, Candy is a ***** to get even on parts if you paint them separate. I feel your pain.

http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e321/texan_idiot25/IMG_5092.jpg

You can get away with using the lowering kit up front if you want to even it out a bit, since the rear tires tuck in more then the front.

I think your basecoat isn't as smooth as the candy coat, I love the candy red but the silver underneath seems bumpy.

With regards to touchups, there isn't much you can do I think. You could try painting a little more black around the window frame area to hide the spots.

Good job so far! ;)

Small update:

I have a new wheel choice:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v221/ling427ttvette/IMG_0571.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v221/ling427ttvette/IMG_0572.jpg

I think these look pretty darn nice as well. The paint doesn't look so hot in these pictures, I think it's the different lighting, it's under a fluorescent light which doesn't seem to make it stand out like it did under the other light.

As you can see I painted in the rear bumper piece, I made a small slip though. :(

Front bumper still needs painted.. I need to go out and get more paint, all of the model paint I had thickened up and got ruined. So, that will be on hold for possibly a few weeks.. money is tight right now. :(

I still need to get those outside pictures.. I'll get the front bumper painted first and get it all put together.

That color is awesome i like the black on the back bumper i think the tail pipes would look nice in a silver color but thats just my opinion but really good job
