Noob with pix

Ok, I am a total noob, but I have a custom paint job done on my Xmod. Please give your honest opinions. The pix are not that great but I tried to get the best angle and light so you can see the paint job clearly.

Holy crap, best paint job from a "noob" that I've seen. Just touch up on the windows a tad bit and you might give bondo a run for his money!!

take it out side and get some better, natural light.

I will take pix tomorrow during day light hours. The paint is the exact paint that goes on my car, via paint number on the car. It is left over paint that was mixed up for me for my car for touch-up paint.
Hope this is a better pix..I tried to use my flash, but it over exposed the pix.

Yes, I did. I practiced on a plastic box for awhile. When I felt comfortable, I did it on the car.

People have asked what type of paint this is. it is from Sherwin Williams and is a base coat/clear coat. It is a Urethane paint. I hope this helps

BTW... I got all my technique's from the board here in the beginners FAQ. Other then that, I never painted a Xmod before.

I also would like to thank everyone who commented on the job. It means allot to have various opinions from a wide range of people and there perspectives.

Yep, first time. And first time having one. i have such a busy life that felt I needed a inexpensive hobby to take me away from my day to day routine. Furthermore, something where I can stop being a grown-up all the time. I found this, and so far I am addicted.:p

For a first time that paint is very nice. So, kudos on that. Also, Xmods can be very addicting. Don't get to addicted and waste all your money on them. If you're going to start pouring money into this hobby...choose what you spend it on wisely. :bigwink:

Take your xmod, and your camara and your car, Park your real car, Then, Put the camara on the ground, make sure you can see the full car, then take your Xmod, and put it someone in the pic like between the camara and your real tC, Or! Put it close or far from the camara and take it. [ just some ideas ]

You can paint like this. Just do what I did take your time and I mean really take your time. I spent a hour+ on taping alone. I placed 2 layers of the base coat/clear coat. I waiting for each coat to dry completely, before doing another coat. When i say, waited, I mean I left it to dry over night in a warm place with no humidity for 12 hours. Did the same for the second. Never be in a rush when painting, you will always end up with poor results. Also, the BIG key to painting these things is a air brush type, never a spray can, it come out unevenly and in blots. The type I used is reactive and bonds with the plastic, so there was no need to prime or sand, plus when using model paint for the small areas, like the rear light and the grill, you can use paint thiner to clean up the mess as it will not affect the primary paint.

these are the only other good pics i have of it as it was. currently, i was spray painting some rims chrome, and the car got over sprayed (my stupidity) but thn, i thought it looked awesome and did the other side.:lol:
