I was looking into buying a cheap, but good electric crawler. Xmods are getting kind of old and I want something bigger to mess with. I can spend about $250 max on it. Any suggestions would be nice. I've seen thse, http://cgi.ebay.com/Tamiya-58397-RC-Toyota-Hilux-High-Lift-4x4-3SPD-4WD_W0QQitemZ280189023294QQihZ018QQcategoryZ118229 QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem but i don't know how much they run.

The highleft is not cheap...
Are you looking for something good or a trail rig?

Something more like a trail rig.

You're going to be spending $500+, I garentee you with the price of my life. ;)

Most crawlers your purchase anywhere is a "roller" chassis. This means there are no electronics what so ever. So now you as the consumer have to go out and purchase the TX/RX/ESC/Servos/Batteries and whatever else you see fit.

Tamiya High Lift is one of the best trail rigs out there, however. So at least you have good taste. :p
==========================
If you're looking for cheap just go with an offroad type RC. A crawler will bust your balls and pockets, everything tends to break eventually due to torque.

ya but the price on tlts are going up really high since they stoped makeing them so if you are going to get one get it soon before the price goes up alot more and with the tlt you are going to have to do some custom fabbing unless you have money for parts but, the tlt is one of the strongest trucks you will ever build or drive.

jabari, why dont you just buy a roller chassie, and build on to it with gpm stuff(so it wont break that often) and buy new or used electronic ??

+1 but only if you can find one! TLT-1s have been discontinued... I think Tamiya brought them back for a short while, though.

It may be discontinued, but the aftermarket for 'em is huge! They've got amazing potential, and the kit should only run you about $100! I know, I bought mine brand new before they were discontinued at my LHS for about $125 (with tax)

Get a wheelie king, and go make a crawler out of it.

Don't even think their that much, and now come in 4wd

personally i have been racing 1/10 and 1/8 for a while and idk about rock crawling but tamiya is not very 'high class' stuff...

- make one...what the worst thing that can happen. if you break a part you can get the that exact part on the spot instead of searching out the # to the part in a kit and what not..or buy parts in doubles.

- theres alot of possibilities...in the end its gunna be your car.

Building it yourself is cheaper then buying it.

+1

As well, the link you posted showed exactly what the TLT-1 from Tamiya is capable of.

Oh and the Budget part, well let's see 80 bucks for the TLT Kit, 25 bucks for Lexan and Paint, 7 for Brake Line, had the clod body, 9.00 for the Y-Cable,

80.00 - TLT Kit
25.00 - Lexan and Paint
7.00 - Brake Line
9.00 - Y cable
20.00 - 2 2055 Servos
Had the Clod Body
Using Velcro ESC and RX from HellCAT
Motor Left Overs from a RC given to me

Total = 141.00 - Not to bad considering a Touareg will run you 175.00

Google, eBay, and Tower Hobbies, lol...

Been considering building one when I have the spare money (if ever)

You could grab a 4-Tec and raise it, high-torque motor, swampers, etc...
That would be sick.
