This is the plan... You give me that sweeeeeeeeet engine and drivetrain, and I use it in my 1990 Firebird V6

1. Nope, it's actally a very cheap swap. The V6 and V8 cars share a lot of parts. You can do it for less then a grand.

2. Why are you back, again?

WhiteMKIV, why the thread jacking?

clintr79
01-03-2008, 01:46 PM
Yes its alot of money to put into it but i love the body style of the 3rd gen and they are easy to come by and easy to swap i used to have a suzuki hayabusa 1300r and i sold it because my wife hated it she said i could have a car and didn't car how fast it was we are hoping for around 500 to 550 hp at the wheels

fordman239
01-03-2008, 01:48 PM
thats alot of hp! mine has , gessing around 300, without a tune up, still needs that... and the gas gauge dont work, the od button is broke, neead u joints, rear main seal among other things...

The motor is a 383 stroker with a weiand 144 blower and Methanol Injection so it should be good all forged internals and aluminum heads

I bought a very beefed up with shift kit and corvette servos 700r4 i am running 4.10 gears and i want over drive for interstate the tranny will hold 550 plus hp

Right on, that car is gonna scream off the line . 700R4 is one of the best autos ever. Only accountable for a 8% power loss, great 1st gear for launches, and a good overdrive gear.

Which V6 did you have, before, the 2.8?

Well this should be interesting to say the least, a chrysler motor in a POS GM product. why waste your money just go buy a used neon and put the money into it instead since that is what the SRT-4 is.

wow, thats qutie a bit of money to put in a 20 year old car...

And the problem with that is??????
obviously you are not into restoring or modding real cars otherwise you would not have made such an asinine post.
there are thousands of people who put money into cars older than that every day, and I for one think it is a very good looking car for it's age and am wondering why you didn't do the swap sooner?

i was just saying that thats quite a bit of money, no harm in that. and i never said that it didnt look good, becuz it does. im only 15 and i drive a beater box truck, not really into rweal vehicles that much. i do know that people dump loads of money into cars that they will never see back unless they wait 50 years and then sell it becuz it would be rare as hell. this car looks great.

clintr, sorry for jacking ur thread, but this had to be said. great looking car, and i hope it goes well for you.

MONSTER!
very nice clnt.
what are you shooting for? 400-450 HP?
you may have already said it but whats your aspiration plans?
final question, how long before its in the car????;)

btw, tip for when your building a motor out of car.
once the block/heads are stripped and painted.
rub petroleum jelly on the exposed ports to keep them from flash rusting.
its an easy step that will save time, sandpaper and possible gaskets.

cheers man, cant wait to see more.

WE are shooting for 500 to 550 hp on low boost and methanal injection. My brother is doing all the work i have not touched it he is the mechanic of the family he works at a chevrolet dealership for about 13 years. I asked him about the rust he said he will use a scotch brite pad to remove before install.
