Well of course the only way it could have balls is with a 5L V8, but my god. Its the 1st time I have thought to my self, "that would be sweet to drive" from current Toyota product. Not only that, but Toyota is marketing the normally, mature Lexus brand by burning rubber and driving side ways, which I have no problem with.

So, heres the awesome video stuff for you tuner guys, since ya'll need something to be proud of these days. RWD, loads of power...

But Ill still take my loud, brash, and edgy CTS-V over this for 4-doors and high speeds

Wow! Me likey!

Its got a nice "animal bulk" design, like the Supra. Its large, but in an aggressive powerful kind of way!

I'd buy one if I had the money. Better not be "self parallel parking" or tiptronic/paddle shift...

Sweed

It's paddle shifted...

Mum has the IS 350 and it's paddle shifted, but it's also very nice. Moves when it needs too..

yeah this car will move. Its going to be a M3 competitor. Its got a paddle- but its 8-speed and has throttle blips on downshifts. I really like the quad stacked pipes

Saw this at the Houston Auto Show. This is definitely a Lexus worth buying, best thing toyota has come out with since the Supra.

The current Lexus IS350 is the ONLY car that a company has come out with that is a competitor of the current 3-series. All the other companies are making a car that's equal to the last 3-series version.

8 Speed? Jesus.

And while you push the clutch in.....shift and let the clutch out...that Lexus has already gone through half its gears

Who ever said you needed the clutch to shift? ;)

8 speeds though? Thats stupid... or this car just has the worlds shortest powerband to need 8 gears. Kinda useless otherwise, even for fuel economy. Oh well.

Wouldn't be my first choice, but it deffinetly wouldn't be the last; either.
Basically sums me up

IMO, its just more weight... I was pretty impressed with Toyota's 7-speed auto, but 8-speed? I'd stick to my good 'ole 5-speed, thanks. 6-speed is also fine.

Its nice though that the paddle shifter has throttle blips when down shifting, but it'll make bigshots out of those guys who can't heel-toe on a regular stick.

Auto is better for drag anyway. All the serious drag supras use an auto tranny. Auto supras rule the drag strip compared to manual supras.

Still the traditional manual car is a blast to drive.

THE EDJ

any auto car rules on the drag because they're boosted, there's virtually no turbo lag at all, which means the engine is running at its max all the way down the strip.

i actually really like this car, be neat to see what kind of numbers a tuner could get out of it

I agree... Until someone bastardizes a 2JZ-GTE into it...

What it more comes down to is an Autos ability to be 100% consistent, faster shifting, and allow for brake boosting a turbo car off the line as well.

Whats the Ferrari Enzo do it at now? .020 of a second or something?

Any idiot can do a burnout.

Any idiot can do a burnout.

All you need is cheap tires, alot of horse power, or alot of money.

well, what id do is take out rear seats and replace with audio(to preserve trunk space) and gut out and merge the rear doors so it becomes a 2 dr. and mod it a bit to enlongate the front two doors

it's sweet though

hey! it's the laguna, the one where jeremy clarkson drove an nsx around! isn't it the "M3 Fighter"? i read in the new motor trend that there's a rumored GS-F (sp?) with a V-10 to fight the M5

texan_idiot25
09-28-2007, 10:15 PM
HAHA, Yeh no. The GS sedan's V10 is for bragging rights to "compete" with the other large V10 powered Euro sedans, I wouldnt take a new GS to the track no matter what engine Lexus put in. M5 > GS

Torque is better for burnouts! And old tires just before you hit up a tires shop to get the works is also a great candidate.

yeah i read about the GS-F in Road and Track and I think its gonna be sweet. They are going to put in the 500 hp V-10 that is supposed to go into the supercar.

my 1995 3/4 ton van with a 4.3 and good tires can do a burn out.

because any car can do it..

My Dad's old 2005 Chystler MiniVan with a 2.something inline 4 does burnouts at every stoplight he wants to do them at.

You don't need power, braun, or brains to do a burnout. Just a little POS car that has a little piece of gut left in er'.

Actually... you do need power and torque to break traction, and keep the wheels spinning. I know of many... many cars that wont even get that far as to chirp the tires.

Reminds me. Me and my friend were at our bus stop like 5.30am last week. A cop stops at the light, then when it turns green, floors it, spins the tires, and just goes.. It revved like hell though. Lotsa power there...

My dad's 79' civic might be able to burn out.
