PS2 ethernet online adapter

Hell every1 i have been thinking about getting the online adpater for ps2 but i dont know if it cost money ? And is taht all you need to get online is the adapter? Please tell me thanks

well i own one never used it lol, it does not require any monthly payments its just 25$ or 30$ for the modem it self and thats it its simple.
