Purple 1995 Dodge Neon

This is my new car (had it for a couple weeks, but this is the first day the weather has been nice enough to shine it all up and shoot some pics). 1995 Dodge Neon, full Wings West BK, (pooey) exhaust, window tint, 17" Motegi Racing wheels wrapped in Hankook Ventus HR2 205/40R17 rubber, along with a newer *mint* swapped interior. It also has a swapped stock motor with 100,000 km on it (the rest of the car has 270,000 km). Nothing special under the hood and don't really plan on doing anything to it, this car is nothing but a daily driver to get me from point A to point B. I don't see any worth in putting money into an engine this crappy and after this school year I'm gonna be looking into buying (errr... financing) a real car, an '04 WRX STi. Anyways, heres the pics... O yeah vote in the pole, 1 being crap 10 being awesome.

Everything is nice except the tail lights and the bk.

The side skirts and rear valence were poorly installed. Expect to see rust and/or corrosion if you take 'em off.

By the way, what's the name of that color? That looks good! (in a non-*** colored-car kind of way... yeah...)

Take the decals on the door panels off too.

i thought a ricer had to have a huge spoiler and all kinds of decals or an obnoxious paint job. and yes the decals that are on the car are coming off, just need to find a heat gun. and i am aware the body kit wasn't installed really really well, but i've a lot worse installs. just keep in mind i haven't done ANYTHING to the car, this is the way i bought it, but i do appreciate the comments, pretty much what i thought they would be haha.

focus ZX5 I have had no problems with it at all like my brother has had with his neon. it shakes so bad its sad. and after reading about all the problems they have it is no wonder dodge did away with it.

I was worried, I was thinking it was going to look like crap. That's probably the best looking pre SRT-4 Neon I've ever seen. It looks really good. I would hate on it performance wise, but Sport Compact Car had one as a project car, so that totally validates it. I drove two of those, a white manual, it was fun to drive, cool interior feel, and then I had a nasty purple one with peeling paint that was automatic and I didn't check the oil and one day, Boom! the engine blew up. Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha. I think I secretly wanted it to die because it was such a peice of crap, I paid $900 for it. That was about $899 too much. The white one went back to my bother in law and then got totaled.

looks decent. im not a fan of people driving stock, so this is good; however, did you do any of the mods yourself? or did you buy everything like that? The pleasure of it all is moding it yourself! not really feeling the tail lamps other than that, you can get some reps im sure driving around cowtown

They've got incredible potential! Not as much potential as a Civic, but over any domestic car that falls under mid-size coupe or sedan, its got the most potential. More so than a Cavalier or Cobalt, even.

Flat black hood have been done for MANY MANY years. Mopar's had them a lot in the muscle car days, because it gave a bit of race car looks. Flat black hoods dont reflect the sun back into your eyes. ;)

And Red-Id bet even Cobalts have way more potential, then the Neon..

I don't think any of that stuff is useless, it all serves the purpose of making the car look different. Wether you like the way it looks or not, that's another story.

I have to disagree, but they did turn into PT cruisers(same platform and power train). But do some reading on ecotecs people are doing amazing things with them.

I think it looks ok. The rims look clean, kinda gives it a JDM look, but the decals and the exhaust makes it look ricer. Just my 2 cents.

Sorry but I absolutely hate neons with a passion. Yours isn't too bad though, it has nice wheels and a decent look. For a first car its not bad, just drive it until you have enough money for a nicer vehicle.

this isn't my first car, i've owned a 95 gmc sierra 1500, rwd, extended cab shortbox, and a 1989 honda CRX Si. I sold the truck a long time ago because I couldn't afford to fill the gas tank, so i bought the honda, which lasted almost a year before i drove it into the ground and blew the motor. now i have this car, which I KNOW is not a great car, but hey, its got fairly low miles and should be quite reliable, and if nothing else, it discourages street racing (i hate losing... thats all this car can do...)

old subie's are hard to come by in my area and they seem to hold their value very well, i simply couldn't afford to go that route, believe me i tried but my bank wasn't going to give me a loan to get something decent considering i'm already up to my balls in my student line of credit. and yeah a used STi is still outrageously priced, but thats my dream car, so if thats the last car i ever buy i wouldn't be too upset about paying a little extra, and its still significantly cheaper than an M3 (my other love in cars). and maybe the neon is just a neon, but in the end i'm not pushin pedals (or the honda for that matter) to get from here to there, and right now thats what i need.

and i do agree, the colbat will have more potential than hte neon. the ss version looks pretty cool. then again, i bet half of the neons sold were for drivers school :roll:

yeah i saw that ad too actually, red neon, silver stripes? pretty clean looking car. i have heard the color referred to as "mauve" which is apparently a greyish-purple, which sounds (moderately at best), better than periwinkle purple haha. but the color is actually starting to grow on me, its just kind of original and different

Yeah! I really like the *periwinkle purple* (no homo lol). I actually bought the magazine for the 240SX auto-to-manual swap article, since its slightly cheaper buying one in auto, they're not hard-driven, and the condition is slightly better than a manual one.

I was actually playing GT1 a few hours ago and had a periwinkle 180SX :p

But yeah, I agree, its a good color. Its MUCH less sissy than this pink Cavalier I saw... It was some snobby looking guy who was wearing a cowboy hat that was driving (Brokeback Driver?).
