Okay guys... YOUR car, not your PARENT's car.

The thread title says "What do YOU drive?" not "What does YOUR PARENTS drive?"

Anyway, here's a link to my CarDomain. I've supplied a stupid amount of information before the pics even show up, but its there.

Dude thats a sweet mini! When I lived in the UK I used to drive a 1978 mini that had been upgraded with a 1.2 mini 1982 engine! It was sick! Off course I never upgraded the breaks and people who drive old school mini's know that the breaks suck beyond belief!!

Anyway great job!!

10 seconds is gd for the 1970's lol and urs will do it in 5 cz urs is newer and more technical lol i have ordered a new rolcage cz the one in it is really rusty from when the original owner kept the car in a barn and the car had no windows and the barn had a very leaky roof lol

haha my bone stock Avalanche will do it in about 8, and it probably weighs about 4 times what your mini does, i could probably fit your car in the bed of my truck and still run faster than 10 seconds 0-60, and for 1970 that is not fast, think about a camaro or a chevelle or a 'cuda or even a mustang, or any real car for that matter

Xmodifier07
08-14-2007, 04:13 PM
I know for a fact a standard Mini Clubman does 0-60 in 21 seconds so 10 seconds is vey respectable with the few mods it has.

In any sense... I'll also add in that I've got a 1999 Mazda Protege LX (POS 1.8L) but its the Touring Edition model. Touring suspension FTW! (mom's car, but I drive it almost as much as she does)

And may I also add, a 2002 Dodge Dakota quad-cab! 4.7L V8 (dad's car, somehow gets 12 or more km/liter

Uhm, thats doubtful. How did your camera end up in the mud, and in the way of your truck?

Dont let this end up like the Saleen thread....

Anyways, 164,000 miles roughly. The only service it has ever had is the fuel pressure regulator leaked (causes the motor to run rich, normal on the 4.3 after 150k), and the rear axle seals were replaced. Still on the original motor, and trans. The BS ppl have about the 4L60E is so unfounded. It only has problems if its 100 plus outside after a long day of driving. It goes into 2nd hard. **** reliable little thing. :) Plus its one of those trucks that if you keep it stock, and keep it clean, it will fetch a very nice price once a classic. Take a look at what has happened to the 67-72s in recent years ;)

Your entirely missing the point if you look at the SRT10 for fuel economy and usefulness. Thats like buying the Prius to go racing.

But the kicker is, the less expensive, lighter, lesser powered Holden Ute has beaten it as the worlds fastest production truck.

And the thing is, I insanely doubt he had the SRT10 to begin with.

or, you're entirely missing the point if you're looking for speed out of a pickup. that's like buying a lotus elise, and then filling all the unused space in the body with concrete. a prius is a better option, light, aerodynamic, great weight distribution.

the Ram SRT10 is the automotive equivalent of the F-4 Phantom....proof that even an aerodynamic brick can fly with enough motor strapped to it

and.....like I said, anything but a base Titan would cost more than a Ram SRT-10. I'd doubt the titan more.

I still have a few years. I'm 14. (Yea, so I lied when I regestered. I'm not really 16 like my profile says.) But anyway, when I can drive, I'm buying my parents 2001 Chevy Suburban for about $3,000. But, until I feel like buying, I am driving my dad's 1989 Chevy Pickup. Once I start driving, there will be 2 12" Subwoofers and 15" in the back of the 'Burban. The it will have an in-dash dvd player, 2 moniters in the sun visors, a moniter in the frontseat head rests, and 2nd row head rests for the third row to watch, and a ps2 modded to fit into the center console of it. Yea, it's gonna be badass. And no, I'm not joking or fantasizing, this really will happen. If I can remember by that time, I will post a WIP of my whip on here. (Haha I just had to say that. WIP of a whip.) The '89 Pickup already has 3 12" subs in it, so im set for now.

I'll get pics of the Suburban later. (Like maybe Monday.)

Edit - Yea, I will spend at least 3 times as much on the car than the car itself once I'm done with it. The stuff I listed up there is not all I'm doing to it. Some other things I have in mind are shaving the handles, emblems, and gettin custom taillights, and some 24" rims with real rubies in it. Yes, I do make enough to pay for this.

I love reading this thread! especially all the under 16 kids telling what they are going to do to their cars WHEN they turn 16. I can remember when I was 16 and just starting to drive, I worked a full time job just to keep gas in mine and pay for the insurance on it. BUT I guess when your parents are willing to pay for everything without requiring your input then you can probably get anything you want.
I would love to see this thread keep going and see pictures of all these cars and what they have done to them with "THEIR" money.

I was in the same boat as you bought my own cars and paid for everything for them. If your parents pay for your whips then you will tear it up with no personal loss to you. I think parents need to let there kids pay for their own cars with money they earn. Back in school you could tell who's mommy and daddy paid for their cars.

Yeah it is really interesting to drive by the local highschool and see all the high dollar cars sitting in the students lot.

My first car that I bought (actually bought 2 of them) was a 1962 Plymouth Belvedere (one was my parents neighbor and the other belonged to the man who ran the bulk plant that supplied gas for our service station(theres something you don't see many of any more))
they both had 318 ci engines with auto's (Jukebox shifters) and Banjo Steering wheels and would smoke the tires with no problem (without having to use the brakes)
Great cars and I wish I still had them.

Not to mention be louder than any, since my truck doesnt have to go by modern smog emissions standereds, just the ones in '69, if any. Plus, in Texas you can have as loud of an exhaust as you want, as long as it passes emissions.

Thats one reason I would have loved to get my great-grandmas 89 New Yorker, besides its absolute laz-y-boy couch on wheels... They had turbo versions, why? Mitsubishi 6 cylinders. Made a wimply 154 or so stock, but the turbo versions had 180-190.

Then of course, you could just start building on that. But the ultimate plan would be to drop either the supercharged 3800 series-III V6 and trans axle from a Grand Prix GTP, or the small block V8 and beefier trans axle from the GXP. That would be so much fun. Theres so much room under the hood
